Others may have said it better…

Ah the internet… glorious replacer of gray matter and waster of time. I am a notorious over-researcher and this applies to pretty much everything in which I become interested. From the moment I took up ultra running, I started amassing a seemingly endless list of sites. Some I visit regularly and even have on my reader. Others are there, for support and affirmation when I need it most.

Since my foray into the sport, I have also had the need to visit a number of health care practitioners in the greater Boulder area. I have listed a few of them as well just in case you find yourself in need of a little extra attention.

Enjoy.

Ultra links:.

  • Run100s: Lots of information about running ultras, what to expect, how to treat injury, strategy, etc. This was one of the first sites to which I turned when I first started running ultras.
  • Ultra Running Resource: Another go-to site for lots of killer ultra info.
  • UltraMarathon Calendar: The what, when, where of ultra running.
  • iRunFar: Great race reviews, articles and gear for ultra runners.

Coaching:.

  • Janet Runyan: I have been working with Janet since the Spring of ’09 and she has helped me adjust my form markedly. Janet is a Leadville and National champ and has coached runners of all abilities to perform at their peak.
  • Art Ives: Art is a top-five Leadville finisher and has an amazing wealth of knowledge of running ridiculous distances. He has helped coach and pace race winners and has an incredible knack for coaching race strategy.

Boulder-area Healthcare:.

  • In-Motion Rehabilitation: These guys are amazing. Mark (winner of 30+ international marathons) and Shirley Plaatjes have forgotten more about running than most people ever learn and are incredible at keeping you on your feet and moving in the right direction. PT and massage. Get some.
  • Sandy Bertrand PT: Sandy is working from both the Boulder area and Virginia these days and is really amazing at body alignment and PT.
  • Dr. Steve Black: Athletes are an interesting breed and it often takes one to know how to best help one. Dr. Black is not only well-versed in treating a wide variety of ailments but is an elite triathlete as well. He helped keep me on my feet and get me moving in the right direction.
  • North Boulder Chiropractic: I have been a regular recipient of Dr. Dave Boynton’s realignment and always feel better after visiting his practice. A competitive cyclist, Dr. Dave will help keep your muscles firing and ready for action.
  • Boulder Orthopedics: Dr. Stephen Paul is the master. If you get to the point where you need orthopedic care, Dr. Paul is your guy. Seriously.
  • Podium Footwear: Stepping into Podium Footwear is like entering a shrine of the top athletes of the last 10 years. From runners to skiers to cyclists (ala Lance), Russ Bolig provides custom orthotics to help improve your performance no matter what you do.
  • Larry’s Bootfitting: Larry Houchen is known for his bootfitting talents world-wide. If you need ski gear and a pair of boots that won’t leave you crippled, Larry is your guy. Bring a six-pack of GoFast and he’ll be your friend forever.
